Remove XFCE and install GNOME 3

Please read carefully before you start

Changing the default desktop environment is an advanced modification and can potentially damage your system. Before performing the steps described here, create a backup of your important data and / or image of the entire system partition. The following steps are your sole responsibility. You have been warned.

Remove XFCE and install GNOME 3

These actions do by a particular order. In a terminal, run the following commands.

1# Perform system update:

sudo pacman -Syu

2# Remove mdm lxpolkit blueman:

sudo pacman -R mdm mdm-themes lxpolkit 
sudo pacman -Rns blueman

3# Install gnome:

sudo pacman -S gnome

4# Turn on gdm:

sudo systemctl enable gdm

5# Install polkit-gnome:

sudo pacman -S polkit-gnome

6# Remove XFCE:

sudo pacman -Rnsc xfce4 xfce4-volumed-pulse xfce4-taskmanager xfce4-artwork xnoise galculator viewnior catfish

7# Install GNOME 3 apps:

sudo pacman -S nautilus-open-terminal gedit-plugins gufw brasero gconf-editor gnome-nettool wxgtk net-tools nmap lm_sensors 
sudo pacman -S gnome-power-manager gnome-settings-daemon gnome-icon-theme-extras gnome-tweak-tool 

8# Reboot system:

sudo reboot

9# Delete cache, unwanted config files:

rm -R ~/.cache/*
rm -R ~/.config/Thunar
rm -R ~/.config/xfce4
rm -R ~/.config/autostart/xfce4*
rm -R ~/.config/blueman
rm -R ~/.config/viewnior
