Geralmente falando, cutting edge refere-se a tecnologia mais recente cujo o desenvolvimento tenha sido finalizado e completamente testado. A tecnologia Bleeding edge é aquela cujo o desenvolvimento não tenha sido finalizado e/ou ainda está em fase de testes. O uso da tecnologia bleeding edge, por isso, carrega o risco de ser instável ou não confiável.
